Friday 2/14 & Saturday 2/15 Danny Janklow Danny Janklow continues to be an exciting musical voice, and one of the most in-demand saxophonists of his generation. Among the newest recipients of the 2025 South Arts Jazz Roads Tour Grant, Danny Janklow + Elevation Band performs with heartfelt imagination while lending the language of Jazz to the grooves of R&B, Funk, and Soul. Danny’s music is searingly personal, and grounded in calls for equal rights, justice, and love. In 2021, Danny celebrated a Grammy win for his integral performance on “Monk’estra plays John Beasley.” He has shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Aloe Blacc, Burt Bacharach, & Herbie Hancock. Janklow has contributed iconic solos to Hip-Hop recordings such as JID’s “Hereditary” and Earthgang’s “Cocktails”. Hymn for Her Hymn for Her have been busy touring across the country and abroad over the past few years, injecting juiced-up backwoods country blues with a dose of desert rock psychedelia that has been described as “Hell’s Angels meets the Amish,” and “Hillbillies with electronics opening Pandora’s Box” Hymn For Her is on the road again spreading their juiced up, down-home, roots rock and roll. From ruckus outlaw to country folk, their sounds will shake your bones and soothe your soul. Their most recent 2024 release, ‘Bloodier Than Blood,’ is Hymn For Her’s official debut as a family band. Lucy & Wayne started as a duo, raising their daughter, Diver, on the road in their vintage Bambi Airstream trailer. At an early age, Diver began joining her parents on stage to sing a song or two. Their first album, ‘Year of the Golden Pig’, was recorded in their bedroom and mixed by Phil Nicolo (Lauryn Hill) in their hometown of Philly, PA. Monday 2/24 John Yarling John’s drumming has been described as always being in service to the song, when supporting singer-songwriters and laying down grooves. In the next breath, he can be heard pushing boundaries, while playing open, modern, improvised music/jazz. John is also a respected educator, teaching at the Frost School of Music - University of Miami, for over 20 years. A native of Detroit, John began playing in the school wind ensemble at the age of 10, and started working professionally playing drumset at 13 in local rock, blues, and R&B bands. Moving to Miami, Florida, he continued playing percussion and drumset, and in college eventually decided on the drum set as his main area of focus. Leaving school to play and record with jazz great Ira Sullivan, John eventually joined trombone legend Curtis Fuller for the better part of a year. Oigo Piano Trio Eric Garcia: Max Farber’s music is a blend of jazz, soul, and R&B. His groups have played in Miami for several years at many festivals and venues including Carnival on the Mile, Vandyke Cafe, Lagniappe House, Jada Eric Garcia: Adrian Gonzalez-Arredondo was born in a valley somewhere in the north of South America, raised by a first-class family in the third world. He studied piano, guitar and solfege at the Conservatorio Juan Jose Landaeta for 7 years until moving to Miami at the age of 14. Became a multi-instrumentalist out of curiosity and happenstance. Later on became a vocalist out of necessity and circumstance. He's got no Grammys or Junos or awards to boast about (except for the top prize at the 2000 Miami-Dade Community College - Kendall Campus Composition Contest, where he graduated from the Honors Department). Performed at numerous festivals throughout the country with many a bands in the past 25 years, but mostly with local stalwarts Suenalo, with whom he’s played for the last 13 years. He also spearheads his own project OIGO, a non-genre specific outfit focused on groove, songwriting and good times. Adrian has a knack for writing familiarly sounding original tunes. Abstract Citizen is the newest group from guitarist and composer Aaron Lebos. The band performs modern jazz, and most of its music was written in the first months of the pandemic. Lebos is a Miami native who has been an active member of the music scene since he was 16 years old. He has played with some of the biggest names in South Florida such as Nicole Henry, Spam All-Stars, Nu Deco Ensemble and his previous original group Aaron Lebos Reality. Twisted Pines Twisted Pine just released the band's joyous third LP, Love Your Mind, on Signature Sounds Recordings. The title represents the quartet landing on a more expansive sound than ever, after years of touring, serious introspection, bouts of self-doubt, glorious bursts of creativity, and many after-hour festival jam sessions and pickin’ till dawn. Addison Rifkind Addison Rifkind is a guitarist and bandleader from Studio City, CA based in Miami, FL. His unique style is rooted in the blues, soul, and bebop with deep grooves and melodic playing as its emphasis. He is the leader of the soul jazz guitar trio Fat Produce, the funky organ trio The Glades and instrumental soul band Soul Vaccinators. He is also one of the rotating guitarists for organ groove band Scone Cash Players, who just released their latest album on Daptone Records! The debut record for Fat Produce, Fresh Squeeze, is now on F-Spot Records out of Los Angeles. Addison’s group Soul Vaccinators recently released a 45 on Tiki Tumbao out of Miami. A full length record from The Glades will be released on Tiki Tumbao in January of 2025. Addison’s song “Big Parlay Blues” was recently featured on Iggy Pop’s BBC Radio show Iggy Confidential. Jeff Prine As a journeyman musician from Brooklyn, NY, he’s shared the stage with Dickie Betts, Johnny Winter, Robin Trower, The Outlaws, Cyndi Lauper, Stuff (featuring Steve Gadd), and recorded original songs for Roulette Records. As bandleader and regional guitarist in South Florida, Jeff Prine has provided musical backing for local blues legends like Joey Gilmore, Juanita Dixon and the late Big Mama Blue. During his two year stint helming the house band at Cheers, Jeff played with Albert Collins, Coco Montoya, Buddy Miles, Kim Simmonds, Dave Mason, Rick Derringer and Steve Morse. The Lost Melody The Lost Melody is a jazz trio comprised of old souls and lovers of melody. Pianist Joe Davidian (recent winner of the 2019 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition), bassist Jamie Ousley & drummer Austin McMahon, each composers in their own right, come together to forge new melodies for those who crave hummable tunes. The trio has been touring internationally since 2000 presenting concerts and giving masterclasses in places such as Ireland, Germany and Italy with a forthcoming tour of Japan. Stateside, they have since performed at numerous jazz festivals, universities, and top NYC jazz clubs, including Dizzy’s Club, Mezzrow, and Kitano, and have held an annual residency at the Nashville Jazz Workshop since 2008, where they recorded two of their four albums: Live at the Jazz Cave: Vol. 1 (2013) & Vol. 2 (2017) as Joe Davidian Trio) (see below). |

Golpes Libres Degnis Bofill is a Cuban drummer, percussionist, vocalist, and composer. He is well versed in an array of percussion instruments and a connoisseur of Cuban’s unique rhythmic tradition. A vastly experienced performer, he has toured the world, and performed alongside Arturo O’Farrill, Orlando Valle “Maraca”, Néstor Torres, Bobby Carcassés, Jon Cleary, Dave Weckl, Blondie, Brian Lynch, Jaques Morelenbaum, Daymé Arocena, Lula Galvão, Omara Potruondo. Degnis’ directs his own ensemble, Golpes Libres (Free Hits), mixing Afro-Cuban traditional music and modern jazz, combining intricate textures, improvisation, and elaborate harmonic work. He is also a music educator, and offers workshops. Degnis won a Latin Grammy for the album Ancestros Sinfónico in the category of Best Folk Album with the band Síntesis. He has recorded on more than 30 albums with some of the above mentioned artists and others.
