Stephen Scott Trio Stephen Scott (born March 13, 1969) is an American jazz pianist. Scott played piano from the age of five. While attending New York’s High School of the Performing Arts he was introduced to jazz by alto saxophonist Justin Robinson, in particular the music of Wynton Kelly and Red Garland. Later, he took private lessons at the Juilliard School of Music. In 1986 he received the Young Talent Award from the National Association of Jazz Educators and within the year was hired as accompanist to Betty Carter. Scott was soon playing with bands led by Kenny Barron, Terence Blanchard, Ron Carter, Lou Donaldson, Benny Golson, Craig Handy, Roy Hargrove, the Harper Brothers, Joe Henderson (appearing on the Grammy-winning tribute to Billy Strayhorn, Lush Life), Jon Hendricks, Bobby Hutcherson, Victor Lewis, appearing on Eeeyyess!, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny Rollins and Bobby Watson. |

In her travels, she has performed to critical acclaim in venues and festivals across Europe and the United States, winning several national and international awards. Anemoia Anemoia is a song based, groove centered Trio made up of Armando Lopez, Andres Ferret, and Aaron Lebos. The band was born through improvisations caught on voice notes, then later transcribed into recorded song. Their self-titled debut record released just weeks before the global pandemic. During the pandemic the band used the time to start and finish their sophomore album “Lost the Plot”. The band in their first year has been lucky to have performed several exciting shows including: A sold out album release show (official ground up preparty), Nudeco Ensemble’s live streamed collaborative suite of the band’s original music, and opening for legends John Medeski, Skerik, and Stanton Moore at another sold out show in Miami. They have also been remixed by Miami greats, Afrobeta. |

David Wong Bassist David Wong was born and raised in New York City. He is currently a member of Roy Haynes’ “Fountain of Youth” band, the Charles McPherson quartet, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and Cécile Mclorin Salvant’s “Ogresse” orchestra. David was the bassist with The "Heath Brothers" Quartet led by jazz legends Jimmy Heath and Albert "Tootie" Heath for 12 years and was also the last bass player in Hank Jones' "Great Jazz Trio" and is featured on the piano master's last recording. He has performed in many of the major concert halls and jazz clubs throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. David can also be seen regularly performing with Steve Kuhn, Bill Charlap, the Jeb Patton Trio, the Dan Nimmer Trio, the Aaron Diehl Trio and Grant Stewart. He has recorded with Hank Jones, Roy Haynes, Jimmy Heath, Albert “Tootie” Heath, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Benny Green, Dick Oatts, Joe Magnerelli, Wycliffe Gordon, Russell Malone, Brian Lynch, Jim Rotondi, John Marshall, Grant Stewart, Sachal Vasandani and Walt Weiskopf. Sirsy SIRSY is a sassy singer-songwriter rock duo with a soulful, powerhouse of a lead vocalist (seriously wait until you hear Mel sing!) who is also the band’s drummer (she’s been featured in Modern Drummer). Sirsy’s been touring the US for the last 18 years-- playing 200 shows per year nationally. The other half of the band is Mel’s hubby Rich – who sounds like 3 guitarists all on his own- on a vintage Rickenbacker guitar. (Rich also plays bass on a pedalboard with his feet while he’s playing guitar). So, they sound like a full band and despite their multi tasking, do it all with big smiles on their faces. Their show is rocking but also intimate with heartfelt stories about the songs … and nerdy jokes. They’ve been able to make folks dance, laugh, and cry – all in the same show! Rockin' Jake Veteran harp player Rockin' Jake has more than three decades of training and performance-from his New England roots in the presence of Roomful of Blues and Sugar Ray and The Bluetones, to a long tenure in New Orleans that built his prowess, a six-year post-Katrina stint in St. Louis and currently South Florida. He's paid his dues, from gigging with the likes of Pinetop Perkins and Hubert Sumlin, to accepting invitations to jam with Galactic, JJ Grey and Mofro, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Terence Simien, Chubby Carrier and many more. Jake has toured with Maria Muldaur and G. Love and Special Sauce and has logged over a million miles touring with his band over the last 22 years. Bob Bruya Bob grew up in Ellensburg WA, a rural desert town in the American West. He heard country music every day on the school bus, had a father who is a jazz trumpet player, and started playing upright bass in youth orchestras at the age of 8. After high school he moved to Miami on a music scholarship to attend the U, and aside from studying composition and improvisation in school was influenced by the club and Caribbean music scenes present in the city. Now based in New York, all is coming together as he develops his sound. On this night many new songs from an upcoming project "Bob Infinite" will be played for the first time in Miami. |

Joel Dasilva Joel DaSilva is an american/brazilian/ukrainian guitarist, singer and songwriter hailing from Chicago, Illinois, and currently based in Florida. He has a combustible neo-soul-roots sound which combines elements of hi-fi garage blues with a driving roots rock and roll. Joel tours the states and overseas quite often performing at high end venues and festivals and is the son of traveling musicians from Brazil, DaSilva lost his father at age 3, which had a profound impact on the young artist’s life. David Leon David Leon is a Cuban-American saxophonist, woodwinds player, and composer/improviser living in Brooklyn, New York. An active leader and sideman, he has toured internationally as a core member of the chamber trio Sound Underground, releasing three albums to critical acclaim. His own trio #bicmnrosfulmfrenh was recognized as the Best Small Ensemble by Downbeat Magazine’s Student Music Awards in 2016. As the winner of the 2017 ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer’s Award, David debuted a new quartet at the Newport Jazz Festival in August of that year. Lindsey Blair Jazz Guitarist Lindsey Blair is an eclectic musician capable of delving into a variety of styles with authority. Tim Jago Group Australian guitarist/composer/educator Tim Jago has performed/recorded extensively across Australia and The United States. He has led and co-led groups at jazz festivals including The York Jazz and Soul Festival in Western Australia, The Perth International Jazz Festival, and The Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Most recently he was announced as a semi finalist in the inaugural Wes Montgomery International Jazz Guitar Competition. He has performed and recorded with a host of world-class musicians including Patti Austin, Terence Blanchard, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chick Corea, Dave Douglas, Gloria Estefan, Wycliffe Gordon, Dave Liebman, Bobby McFerrin, Vince Mendoza, Steve Miller, James Morrison, Danilo Perez, Chris Potter, and Arturo Sandoval, to name a few. Michael Eckroth Michael Eckroth, pianist and keyboardist, is an active performer in New York and worldwide, having worked extensively with musicians such as John Scofield (New Morning Concert DVD), Ron McClure, Eliot Zigmund and Paul McCandless. Equally at home in jazz and latin-American music forms, Michael recently arranged and recorded an album in Cuba with Pepito Gomez and Orquesta Akokan (Daptone Records) which has received rave reviews on outlets such as NPR and France’s FIP and received a grammy nomination for best album in the tropical music category. A native of Phoenix Arizona who currently resides just outside NYC, Eckroth earned a PhD in jazz performance at NYU and currently leads and co- leads a number of projects in varied genres of music. Kate Hamann Kate Hamann is a freelance trumpet player, vocalist, and composer based in Miami, FL. A graduate of the Frost School of Music, Kate has a unique sound influenced by jazz, singer-songwriter, neo-soul, and Brazilian music. Kate’s debut EP; When I Grow Up, released in 2020, features some of her earliest compositions. By using her trumpet and voice to make them seem like one continuous instrument, she aims to bridge the gap between instrumental and vocal music. Hymn for Her Hymn for Her have been busy touring across the country and abroad over the past few years, injecting juiced-up backwoods country blues with a dose of desert rock psychedelia that has been described as “Hell’s Angels meets the Amish,” and “Hillbillies with electronics opening Pandora’s Box”. The duo certainly covers a lot of musical territory in Smokin Flames. Their wild-eyed mash-up of country, blues and punk led U.K. music critic Steve Bennett to call H4H’s sound “a riotous, rocking roadkill stew,” while others have referenced such diverse bands as Captain Beefheart, Primus, X, R.L. Burnside, JS Blues Explosion and the Ramones. Impressively, the two create their “ripsaw sounds” (Los Angeles Times’ Randy Lewis) with only a few instruments. Wayne (with the devilish voice), mainly playing the kick-drum, high-hat, acoustic guitar and harp, serves as the group’s rhythmic driving force. Brandon Lee Lewis Drummer Brandon Lee Lewis has performed internationally with artists such as Harry Whitaker, Frank Wess, Kenny Garrett, Myron Walden, Azar Lawrence, Anthony Wonsey, The Cookers, Billy Harper, Reggie Workman and Charles Tolliver, among others. He's also performed on Award-Winning Broadway productions The Color Purple and Memphis. He has his own band called The Program of Deprogramming, which features his compositions. Richard Padrón Richard Padrón is a Cuban born composer and guitarist known for his versatility, virtuosity and ability to blend in with almost any ensemble across a wide variety of genres. He has strong Afro-Cuban roots that color his compositions while still retaining his own identity as composer. His music has been described as deceptively simple and easy on the ear, yet pulling you in with its complex harmonies and deceptively simple melodies. In the words of the great Paquito D'Rivera, "Richard Padrón, on electric and acoustic guitars, writes music in a very particular way, using unusual melodic, rhythmic and harmonic approaches. His guitar playing is compelling, powerful and passionate.” He will be joined by lifelong friends José Ferrer and Ariel de la Portilla as they explore Richard's original compositions as well as original arrangements of Cuban classics and beyond. Abstract citizen Abstract Citizen is the newest group from Guitarist/Composer Aaron Lebos. The band’s genre can be categorized under the wide umbrella term of “Modern Jazz,” and all their music was originally written as a response to the pandemic. Lebos incorporates his diverse and eclectic style into the music of Abstract Citizen. Nicole Yarling
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, a musical household laid the groundwork for Nicole's career. She was inspired very early by her father, who played jazz organ and piano, and her father's records, which all made an impact on Nicole's musical tastes: Artists such as Etta Jones, Miles Davis, Stuff Smith, J.J. Johnson and Sonny Rollins, the Beatles and Motown classics were in regular rotation. Tom Lippincott
Eight- and six-string guitarist Tom Lippincott was born in New Jersey and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but has made South Florida his home since 1988. He has a bachelor's degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas as well as a master's in jazz performance from the University of Miami. As a longtime contributor to the South Florida jazz community, Tom has played and recorded extensively with many of the area’s musicians and bands. He has also performed throughout the world as both sideman and leader and has performed and/or recorded with jazz luminaries John Stowell, Jonathan Kreisberg, Ben Monder, Dave Liebman, Don Friedman, and Ed Schuller. Saxophonist, flautist, composer, and arranger Tom McCormick is from Baltimore, Md. Tom studied at the renowned Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He is currently the saxophone professor at Miami- Dade College, Kendall Campus. Some of the artists Tom has performed with include: Randy Brecker, Arturo Sandoval, Mongo Santamaria, and Nicole Henry. Music has taken Tom around the world, he has performed throughout Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, India, Russia and Japan. A native of Miami, FL, Franchesca Romero began her piano studies in the classical realm until she entered high school where she began her jazz studies. In 2019, she was a member of the Sisters in Jazz Collegiate Combo – joining a long lineage of influential women in jazz. Scone also played in Jazz and Boogaloo Legend Lou Donaldson’s band at the Village Vanguard and the Blue Note in New York City. Saxophonist/composer Gary Campbell’s life as a jazz musician began in his hometown of Indianapolis Indiana, where he was mentored by the great David Baker. From the late 60’s through the 70’s he was active in the innovative, energetic, and notorious loft scene - the testing ground for dozens of creative young jazz musicians such as David Liebman, Richie Beirach, John Abercrombie, Jan Hammer, Bobby Moses, and many others. He appeared on records alongside Randy Brecker, John Abercrombie, Adam Nussbaum, David Friesen, Ira Sullivan, and others. He has shared concert, festival and night club stages with John Scofield, Dave Liebman, Tom Harrell, Jaco Pastorius, Red Rodney, James Moody, Mose Allison, Arturo Sandoval, and is currently touring and recording with the Miroslav Vitous Quartet. A Three-time Fulbright Scholar, Gary is a sought-after jazz educator both in the U.S. and in Europe. He is the Professor of Jazz Studies/Saxophone at Florida International University. Melinda Rose is a local Miami vocalist and a two time downbeat award winner. She performs an array of genres from jazz to neo-soul and R&B as well as some original music. Melinda has traveled as far as Bermuda and Japan to perform in other festivals and has traveled to perform alongside Michael Feinstein, Cyrille Aimee, Jane Monheit and worked frequently with jazz greats such as Kevin Mahogany. Growing up with the guitar as a young boy he went on to study Classical and Jazz guitar at the University of Georgia. After college he moved to Boston and became one of the youngest instructors of Jazz Studies with the prestigious Berklee College of Music at just 23. Madd Jazz
Kevin, Chase, and Emily Maddox are Miami natives who began studying music at a young age under the mentorship of jazz legend and multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan. Through their jazz studies and love of all genres of music, they created Madd Jazz, which blends elements of jazz, funk, soul, and pop. Kevin, Chase, and Emily have performed with artists such as Jay Sean, Christian McBride, Maria Schneider, Danilo Perez, John Pizzarelli, Julio Iglesias, and many more. They currently perform locally across South Florida in a variety of projects. Woody & Sunshine
Arkansas-based Fusion band Woody & Sunshine are not quite Bluegrass, not quite Jazz, not quite Funk, but rather fuse the three in a swirling kaleidoscope of high-energy, psychedelic jams consisting of carefully crafted compositions and intentional improvisation. The two have performed with notable artists including Billy "Bass" Nelson and Rico Lewis of Parliament Funkadelic, and Sikiru Adepoju of Mickey Hart Band. They have opened for musical legends including Railroad Earth, Keller Williams, Jeff Austin, Melvin Seals and John Kadlecik. Andrew Amengor's "Explorations"
Andrew Amengor's "Explorations" is a Miami-based experimental improv trio that explores and blends the genres of: jazz, lofi, funk and hip-hop. The group will be playing a mixture of both original music as well as some classics by artists like: Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, J-Dilla, Kendrick Lamar, MF Doom, Robert Glasper, Slum Village, Thundercat, Burgundee and many more! Doug Maher
Doug Maher is a guitarist with over 40 years of experience. His performing career began as the guitarist with “The Army Blues,” the Jazz Ensemble of the U.S. Army Band, Washington, D.C. He has played a wide range of jazz and commercial music in venues across the U.S. In March 2015 Doug performed the premier of “Glacier”, a Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra by the Grammy winning composer Dr. Kenneth Fuchs with the Bozeman (Montana) Symphony Orchestra. Doug received his B.M. (Jazz Performance, 1977) from Berklee College of Music and M.M. (Jazz Pedagogy, 1984) from The University of Miami. Doug was the Adjunct Instructor of Guitar and Jazz Combo at the University of Connecticut, where he performed in support of notable jazz musicians Dick Oatts, Jeff Hamilton, Ernie Watts, Scott Wendholt, Mark Turner, Denis DiBlassio, John Mosca, and Earl MacDonald. In 2022 he returned to South Florida, where he is active performing on the Treasure Coast. |
Aldo Salvent
Aldo Salvent is multiple award winning saxophonist, composer and educator based out of the State of Florida, United States. He holds a Master Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance from Florida International University (FIU). As a saxophonist he has played/toured worlwide in more than twelve countries. In August 2014 he recorded his first solo album “Da Capo” as a leader on Dazzle Recordings Label in Denver-Colorado, receiving positive reviews from “All About Jazz” Magazine and “El Nuevo Herald” newspaper after the official release in January 2015. “Da Capo” is available in Itunes, Amazon and CD Baby. House Savage
House Savage is a Miami based band focused on Funk, Jazz, R&B, and Latin music. Led by trombonist and composer Sam Savage, House Savage is all about the groove to make people dance. Sam chose his favorite musicians in Miami, Ivan Palma on drums, Marcel Salas on Electric Bass, Chantil Dukart on keys and vocals, Big Brooklyn Red on Vocals, Taylor Vega on Sax and Cisco Dimas on Trumpet. With this group, House Savage has its own sound while embracing the “Miami Sound”. Sam draws influence from other bands he performs with such as Locos Por Juana, Elastic Bond, Suenalo, Xperimento, Lanzallamas, and No BS Brass Band. |
Fernando Ulibarri
Guitarist Fernando Ulibarri has been an active performer in the South Florida music scene for over 10 years. Originally from Costa Rica, he has made his mark on the Miami Music scene as a guitarist, bandleader, and educator. He will be performing his jazz influenced original compositions with his quartet. Joined by some of Miami’s finest musicians, Fernando’s original compositions rely heavily on improvisation and group interplay. Fernando released his first recording as a leader, entitled Transform, in 2014. The music performed this evening will feature some of those compositions, as well as new music written over the past few months specifically for this engagement. Website |
Mestizas
Mestizas is a musical group that combines styles such as flamenco, jazz and various genres of Latin American folklore. From a contemporary perspective they revisit forgotten —but fundamental— songs from the cultures that forged their intertwined identities along with their own compositions. From Spain to Uruguay, and from La Havana to Boston, their music is the vehicle that transports the cultural richness of each of its 5 members. With exquisite musicality the quintet stands out for its quality, originality, aesthetic and social awareness. Stéphane Clément
Stéphane Clément was born in Miami and attended New World School of the Arts. He was awarded YoungArts prizes in Jazz Trumpet and embarked on two of the Herbie Hancock Institute National Peer-to-Peer tours, performing at the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition Finals & All-Star Gala at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from Manhattan School of Music. While in Manhattan, Stéphane is under the tutelage of renowned artists Ambrose Akinmusire, Ingrid Jensen, and Jon Faddis. Stéphane’s experience includes learning from legendary artists who have become leading names on the international scene. He is the composer, and arranger as well as trumpeter in a group called ‘The Ritual’. Stéphane is also a part of Ambrose Akinmusire’s large ensemble ‘Banyan‘. Stéphane’s current goal is to connect as many bridges between art and life as possible, whilst exploring and experimenting with creators across different art forms and passions. |
