Sirsy
SIRSY is a rock, pop, & soul duo with lots of sass. Charismatic lead singer, Melanie, is also the band's drummer and plays a full drum kit standing up. She also plays bass on a keyboard with her drum stick and even throws in some mean flute solos, too. Somehow she seems to do it all with a big smile on her face. The Times Union said “Melanie has one of the most powerful and flexible voices you’ll ever hear”.  And the SXSW Music Blog said “the lead singer/drummer is stunning”.  Melanie’s other musical half (and husband), Rich, plays a road worn and well loved Rickenbacker through a pedal board full of vintage effects. He also pays bass on a keyboard with his feet -- and tells super nerdy Star Wars jokes.  The SXSW Music Blog said “the guitarist is flawless and raw... clean enough to be enjoyed and just edgy enough to make you grin. Sirsy is not just a 2 piece, but a head scratching WOW! This is the complete package in a smiling, laughing, have a good time with your friends band.”

SIRSY has played 250 shows per year nationally for over a decade. They’ve opened for: Grace Potter, Maroon 5, Train, Cheap Trick, Brandi Carlile, to name a few.  Their song ‘Cannonball’  is featured on the hit tv show “Shameless” (on Showtime).  Every show is a celebration for this couple who have endured a tough year as Melanie fought her second battle with cancer -- and won.  Melanie says, “Connecting with others while we make music is what life is all about for us.”  Come celebrate with them!

SATURDAY 3/4

Hymn for Her
Hymn for Her have been busy touring across the country and abroad over the past few years, injecting juiced-up backwoods country blues with a dose of desert rock psychedelia that has been described as “Hell’s Angels meets the Amish,” and “Hillbillies with electronics opening Pandora’s Box”.
The duo certainly covers a lot of musical territory in Smokin Flames. Their wild-eyed mash-up of country, blues and punk led U.K. music critic Steve Bennett to call H4H’s sound “a riotous, rocking roadkill stew,” while others have referenced such diverse bands as Captain Beefheart, Primus, X, R.L. Burnside, JS Blues Explosion and the Ramones.
Impressively, the two create their “ripsaw sounds” (Los Angeles Times’ Randy Lewis) with only a few instruments. Wayne (with the devilish voice), mainly playing the kick-drum, high-hat, acoustic guitar and harp, serves as the group’s rhythmic driving force. Lucy (of the fallen-angel voice) delivers a gritty squall on her “Lowebow” — a custom-made cigar-box guitar: “The Riff Monster.”

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, a musical household laid the groundwork for Nicole's career. She was inspired very early by her father, who played jazz organ and piano, and her father's records, which all made an impact on Nicole's musical tastes: Artists such as Etta Jones, Miles Davis, Stuff Smith, J.J. Johnson and Sonny Rollins, the Beatles and Motown classics were in regular rotation. Nicole's notable talent has a virtue all its own, but it would be remiss not mention the late great vocal legend, Joe Williams. Joe "discovered" Nicole through a series of events, and adopted her as his very own project.

TWYN creates a sound that is both vintage and modern. The experimental duo stretches across funk, R&B, hip-hop and electronica, playing songs that provide a foundation for them to improvise and experiment in the moment. Keyboardist Jason Matthews and drummer Aaron Glueckauf have worked together for over 6 years composing and arranging for all types of artists and groups such as Matt Schofield, Danay Suarez, The Politix, Mag-Pi, & Electric Kif. Throughout their time as songwriters and performers, they have developed a rhythm together that is not only relevant, but also cutting-edge and collaborative. By challenging the boundaries between the structure of songwriting and the freedom of instrumental music, they have curated a style that is constantly in motion and consciously sculpted to the energy of their audience during each performance.
